Discover Al Pacinos

If you’ve ever driven past 10E Hilltop Rd, Merrylands NSW 2160, Australia and caught the smell of freshly baked pizza drifting into the street, chances are you were near Al Pacinos. I first stopped in on a rainy Friday evening after a friend insisted it was one of the most underrated local diners in Western Sydney. Since then, I’ve returned more times than I can count, each visit confirming why this place continues to earn loyal reviews from families, couples, and late-night food hunters alike.

The atmosphere hits you straight away. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and refreshingly unpretentious. You’ll see groups sharing large pizzas, tradies grabbing takeaway after work, and families settling in for a hearty dinner. The layout is simple but comfortable, with warm lighting and a familiar suburban charm. It feels like a neighbourhood restaurant that genuinely cares about its community.

What keeps people coming back, though, is the menu. Al Pacinos offers a broad range of Italian and modern Australian favourites. Their woodfired pizzas are easily the stars of the show. The dough has that ideal balance-crispy at the base yet soft and airy inside. Research from food science experts at institutions like the University of Naples, known for studying traditional pizza fermentation, shows that slow-fermented dough improves both digestibility and flavour. You can taste that difference here. The Margherita is clean and classic, while the meat lovers pizza is generously topped without feeling greasy.

Beyond pizza, the pasta dishes deserve attention. The creamy carbonara has a silky texture, and the bolognese carries a rich, slow-cooked depth. Proper simmering methods, as recommended by culinary authorities such as the Italian Culinary Institute, allow flavours to develop naturally over time. That’s exactly what you experience in their sauces. They’re not rushed. They’re layered and balanced.

One evening, I decided to try their grilled chicken with peri-peri sauce. The portion was generous, and the chicken was tender without being dry-a detail that often separates average kitchens from skilled ones. According to Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), maintaining correct cooking temperatures is critical not only for flavour but for food safety. Consistency in texture and doneness suggests the kitchen follows reliable preparation processes.

The restaurant also caters well to takeaway and delivery orders, which has become increasingly important. Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics indicates that online food ordering has grown significantly over recent years, especially in suburban areas. On busy nights, I’ve noticed a steady flow of drivers picking up neatly packed orders. Despite the rush, staff remain organised and polite, which says a lot about their internal systems.

Another strength is value for money. The portions are satisfying without inflated pricing. In a time when dining out can feel expensive, Al Pacinos manages to stay accessible. Families can share a couple of pizzas, a pasta, and drinks without feeling the pinch too hard. It’s this balance of quality and affordability that fuels positive local reviews.

Customer service is another highlight. On one visit, a small mix-up happened with our order. Instead of brushing it off, the staff apologised immediately and corrected it within minutes. That kind of response builds trust. In hospitality, mistakes can happen; how they’re handled makes all the difference.

Of course, like any busy suburban diner, peak hours can mean a short wait. Friday and Saturday evenings are especially lively. If you’re planning a relaxed dine-in experience, arriving slightly earlier helps. Still, the wait rarely feels frustrating because the team keeps things moving efficiently.

Location-wise, being situated in Merrylands makes it convenient for locals and visitors exploring Western Sydney. Parking nearby is generally manageable, and the spot is easy to find. Its steady stream of regulars reflects strong community ties, which you can sense in the friendly conversations between staff and returning customers.

Overall, Al Pacinos stands out not because it tries to be trendy or overly fancy, but because it delivers dependable quality across its menu. From woodfired pizzas and comforting pasta to grilled mains and quick takeaway service, it consistently meets expectations. The combination of flavour, portion size, fair pricing, and genuine hospitality makes it a reliable choice for casual dining in Merrylands.

  • Ordered delivery plenty of times and eaten in house a few times. Always a pleasure my husband has a food allergy and they always ensure the ingredients are not included in the food. Workers are lovely and are accommodating. Prices are so affordable, we are a family of 4 and always eat until we are stuffed. Recommend their sweet chilli pizza crust, fettuccine chicken pasta and chicken breast with mushroom sauce and veggies. Always a pleasure

  • Loved the food when I ordered, have been there a few times and the meals are sufficient in size and planetary in flavour. Highly recommended little restaurant that is not afternoon off the M4 with great meals and friendly service. Only thing is the look is a little dated but the food quickly makes you forget that. Pizzas and octopus are awesome!
